Oakseed portfolio company Positron AI becomes a unicorn with an oversubscribed $230M series B. Positron AI makes hardware to run Large Language Models (LLMs) at a fraction of the electricity needs and cost compared to Nvidia. They will also feature 2TB of memory capacity per chip and 8TB per server, which means it can serve 16 trillion parameter models on a single server. Oakseed seeded the company about 2 years ago.

Positron AI Secures $51.6 Million in Oversubscribed Series A

Positron AI, a company that Oakseed co-led the pre-seed round in 2023, has raised over $50M in an oversubscribed series A. The round was led by Valor Equity Partners, Atreides Management and DFJ Growth. Additional investment came from Flume Ventures, which includes tech icon Scott McNealy, Resilience Reserve, 1517 Fund and Unless.

Enterprises are expected to spend over $320 billion on AI infrastructure in 2025. Positron is currently shipping its first-generation product, Atlas, which delivers 3.5x better performance-per-dollar and up to 66% lower power consumption than NVIDIA’s H100.

UCR featured on ARM’s newsroom blog

Oakseed portfolio company Under Control Robotics (UCR) was featured on ARM’s newsroom blog. UCR wants to solve a critical problem: the lack of scalable, multipurpose humanoid robots that can handle dangerous and labor-intensive tasks.

One of UCR’s key breakthroughs is its lightweight AI model. Instead of requiring powerful onboard computers to constantly process complex physics equations, the team trained its models in simulated environments. Its AI runs on NVIDIA’s robotics-optimized Jetson Orin platform using Arm Cortex-A78-class processors, making it far more power-efficient and cost-effective than traditional edge AI robotics.
